For AftonRedbird, Powerpuff Girls, anything really
It was funny how the ones who got bullied at a young age could show people just how amazing they really were, or at least some of them could.
Elmer was an attractive young man with soft brown curls, hair having gotten darker since his youth. He still needed glasses to see, and of course he had grown out of eating glue. One thing would stick to him more than glasses ever could, for his whole life. He still retained his powers, but now he had had them so long, he could control them with ease. He had taught himself to switch between this pastey form and his normal self, and he could transform just small parts of himself into glue. It was much more useful than it sounded, really. And of course that wasn't the worst of it. Every now and then Elmer would come into school with some new injury and wouldn't dare tell the truth, that he had been out fighting some goon. Well, that wouldn't go down to well, would it? God, just imagine the mess he would be in then.
Anyway, there Elmer was, leaning back awfully far in his chair in the middle of a class he almost couldn't be bothered to listen to. Was it his fault he found school work so boring? Surely not. Nah, the schooling system could be to blame for that. He hardly cared. He had something else to be interested in. He found his eyes drawn to the window, wondering what it was like out there, beyond the same old monster-infested town he was used to. Occasionally here he would work alongside the Powerpuff Girls, and as much fun as that was, he still couldn't help but think what things would be like if he were to go elsewhere.
He didn't know what to do, feeling a little trapped in a rut. One lunchtime, he was talking to Blossom when he let it slip. "I dunno, I'm just looking for something new."
Blossom nodded, smiling. "Townsville's wild though."
"Yeah, but this madness is the norm for me. I mean, I don't wanna throw it away forever, but just know for a small moment what it's like elsewhere." He looked up as a strange premature darkness spread over them.
Elsewhere, a group of kids were camping, laughing and telling jokes. The five of them didn't notice the sky darkening at first, not until the sun had almost completely been blotted out. That was when they started to stand, looking around, just a little bit confused. That was when the red light came through the middle, kind of like some kind of dark portal.
This portal was something the Powerpuff Girls didn't see. No, one of these kids, an enemy of the girls, took a photo on her phone to show them. They hurried away from the portal thing as things began to pour out. Their tents were savagely ripped to shreds.
By the time they reached the girls, however, they had already met the threat, and already tried an failed to defeat it. Elmer was there, making sure they were okay, and the Rowdyruff boys and Princess watched these strange things kill people and destroy things. They wouldn't stop.
It was Brick who ran over and pulled Blossom up. "Get up, we have to fight!"
"We?"
Elmer nodded. "We. We'll all die if we can't defeat these people. Heroes or villains, we have to stand together or die!"
"Exactly." Brick agreed solemnly. He helped the girls up and went back to Princess, his girlfriend. Butch mas making sure Mitch was hidden before he stepped up to fight.
Although it wouldn't have happened any time soon, there were times when Elmer wanted to go elsewhere and times when he was so glad he was where he was. Times like this. Times where friends and enemies, no matter their differences, stood together against one big threat. There was something to that, this sense of real importance, real brotherhood. It was a warm, wonderful feeling.
